This study extends explicit topology optimization to the dynamic design of complex curved, stiffened shells. The objective is to maximize the fundamental natural frequency under a volume constraint.
The method combines the Moving Morphable Components (MMC) framework with surface parameterization and an adaptive ground structure driven by shared nodes. Stiffener geometry is optimized in the parametric domain while remaining conformal to the curved base surface. A stiffness–mass decoupled thickness–density double penalty mechanism suppresses artificial localized modes.
Numerical examples include highly curved shells and multi-patch cabin sections. The resulting layouts have explicit geometric descriptions and no grayscale elements, facilitating subsequent CAD/CAE modeling and assessment.
